These ARE metric trannies and using SAE on any metric nut (or the other way around) is just asking for a stripped head.

Anyway, the nut on a 722 4-speed is a 30mm 12-point. I could not find one anywhere so I brokedown a bought a Hazet 900TZ 30mm off the internet.
The 30 mm is 1.181"
1 3/16" is 1.187"

The nut is not going to care that there is an additional .003 clearance between itself and the socket.

If you are able to find a six point, there is even more safety margin.
