A very knowledgable Mercedes mechanis worked on my 83 300D grey model (European) and replaced a bad o-ring in the IP. He mentioned that the Euro-models were built with higher performance aka 'better' injection pumps than their American counterparts. He didn't say anything specific about rubber parts in the pump though.
