I lost a small piece out of my grill insert and I couldn't figure out how it happened. I can't believe how much damage I have had to my car from rock chips

My new windshield got a chip, my grill insert got a chip, paint on the hood a couple of chips.....all from the construction on the road where the workers left so many rocks and gravel behind. Are all the grill inserts the same for 1985-1993? Any different qualities?
