A couple questions for the board. Occasionally, the alarm system on my '86 300E will go off when I unlock the door. (Yes, I'm using the correct key.
) I have dis-armed the horn so I only have to deal with the flashing lights. Annoying.
1) Is this a function of a worn ignition key or worn tumblers in the lock?
2) The driver side lock is beginning to deteriorate, i.e., the chrome face where the key is inserted has disappeared.
3)
If I choose to replace the lock-set with another, can it be keyed to my original key?
