I had 2 chips in my windshield of my W201 and had them repaired. The repair prevented them from possibly spreading, but they were still very noticeable. That was my experience from teh place I had teh work done. I'm sure there are many places that do these repairs and maybe different technologies too. My W124 has a brand new windshield and I already have a chip. I just left it and if it spreads or causes any problems, I'm going to have it replaced. I'm really not concerned about selling my car or carfax so I don't really mind.
