Staying out of the line of fire with the oil debate, I'll reply to the quanty portion of the question. Your car has the 617 engine in it, I thought all 617 turbo engines took 8 quarts. My '83 300TD takes 8, my wifes' 87 TD takes 8.5 and my SL takes 8.5
