Stay away unless you really know what you're doing.

In general you can't get anything but liability coverage on a salvage title car. If something happens to the car whether or not it's your fault, you might not get worthwhile compensation.

I knowingly bought a salvage title car because I knew the seller personally and I knew he had checked it throughly, and the salvage title was issued because the car was abandoned at a body shop after a fender bender (owner, shop and insurance couldn't agree to clear it).

The problems continue when you want to get rid of it.
