My point was directed to your point about mustangs. I'd put the reliability of a 87 MB against an 87 Mustang any day even with the fact that the MB has probably three times the systems involved.
The point in this case is that one has no idea where that car has been for most of its life. It may not all be there. Cars that old often wind up in the hands of consumers. As in: those who consume. Those who take but don't put back and then sell when there is only the image left.
