Spin your fan and you will notice that the gap between two of the blades is much larger than the rest. This should provide enough room to remove your cap.

Let me know if it works out, as in changing my cap I did not remove the fan. Removing the fan clutch/pulley would probably mean releasing the belt tensioner which can become a nightmare if yours is getting up in years.
