i have been filling my brother's Volvo yearly in Toronto with a can R134 obtained in US without licence.(sold in Walmart for $5)
While in Canada,this is not sold over the counter.
Every year,it works for one to two months(the extent of the summer period),then next summer recharge.Better than paying some AC guy at Volvo dealership 1000$.

As my myself,I have a sunroof and joined the AC-less club
