I have tested all 5 of the vacuum pods, and #38 defroster pod is bad (thought it was center vent, but that is ok)
Also #41 Fresh air flap pod is bad (right front, next to window and fender).
I looked at the MB manual but that's not much help.
Is there a how to do it that someone may have posted?
I looked at the stickys, but did not see anything on these two.
I do NOT like to Mickey Mouse things up, I want to do it right.
Looks like the linkage on the flap is the hardest to get off without breaking that plastic snapon part.
Before I order parts, what parts will I need (clips, etc.), and part #'s.
Looked on Fastlane, but did not see item #41.

I just did the defroster element (among other things) today. The linkage on top is really easy to disconnect, but difficult to see. Since the kick panel was already off, I just reached behind the dash and popped the instrument cluster out. I only had to disconnect the spedometer cable and the instrument cluster was able to swing out to the left. The linkage is easy to see through the hole where the cluster was. It's the linkage for the floor vent element that gave me trouble (I broke the plastic piece that the linkage attatches to). I'll come up with a way to Mickey Mouse that back together tomorrow . As for parts, all you'll need are the two elements. If your car is like my '82, both the defrost and recirculated air elements are the twist-on type, and require no clips for installation.
