You might want to have a look at the accelerator pivot mount, thats the joint that mounts to the firewall and connects the accelerator to the pump and rest of the insane linkage.
I replaced the ones on my W123s with what I thought were decent ones out of the boneyards and now those have gone bad. Last night I was poking around in the 300D and that one had deteriorated badly.
The hidden side of the mount is some sort of waxy, nylony weird crap that falls apart after only 25 years.
Since there were no other options last night, I replaced that mess with an appropriately sized and shaped gob of Bondo with kitty-hair. I think it will work OK since its all clamped together by the mount and firewall. It was sure a lot better than what I took out of there. The front rubber block part was OK and the nylon pivot part was OK so this should work. I just don't know how much heat that kitty-hair Bondo can take, but I think it will do OK for a while. I will check it tonite and regularly.
