OK, I'm still fighting it. I had to wait a few days before resuming this work because my son sprined his ankle, etc etc, and I was able to seperate the cat/muffler joint using a disc grinder/cutter. I found out that the new center muffler is about 1" too short where the pipes join.

Back to the store for another one. Rats!
