87 300E with noise in rear end it is a loud winning noise like a loud muffler...

not a grinding but basicly like a loud muffler sound... it starts around 40 mph..

I have not looked at this car yet.. i went to jiffy lube and they checked the rear differential and it had lube in it....

1. does this thing have a full drive shaft or two half shafts and a bearing in the middle?

2. Could the tranny be winning like this and still working?

3. Could it be a rear wheel bearing???

4. Could it be an exhaust shield viberating? (it seems to constant for this)
