Peel back the carpet toward the rear edge of the wood console. You should see a single philips screw. Remove this, and pull the console up, gently from the rear and then slide it back. If it feels like something in front is holding it down, you can remove the ashtray (two screws inside after removing the ashtray cup) which may make things easier.
