Just thought I'd share a strange-appearing phenomenon I experienced after flogging my car on a racetrack. My brake wear sensor light began to flicker on and off. Expecting burnt pads, I visually inspected the fronts (can see them through my rims-they were plenty thick) then popped the rear wheels off. Since the rears were indeed somewhat worn, but NOT down to the wear indicators, I simply threw a new set in.
The strange warning light continued. Hmmm.
Well, this weekend I decided that my 500 deserved new front brakes. Surprisingly, what I found was that the front wear sensors had all melted!! So, apparently they were shorting out to the metal in the pads.
Just thought everyone should know this.
