I hadn't even thought about that. If she jammed the steering rack and bushings while turning the wheel to the stop, this would have the same effect as jamming the tire into the curb. In either case, the load on the steering would prevent you from releasing the lock. I'mm surprised something doesn't give with all that strain on the system.
