On my 300E the speaker is removed by first poping up the plastic molding that frames the right side of the speaker cover grid. Screws are then exposed that allow the speaker to be removed. This is also an alternative way to push out the instrumeent panel. Reach in the speaker hole and push the instrument panel out.
