i have thought
of putting a v8 in the 123. i think generally it will fit. i believe you will find that interference with the spring towers will be the rub. the cars that came with the v8 were wider there. now it may fit if you fabricate tubular headers. the steering box may also be a tight spot. a newer 380 or 500 engine i believe is lighter and otherwise very similar to the 450 engine. i would try to get an engine that is the same year if possible to swap in. you also may want to swap in the rear end. the radiator also will need to be bigger, too, prob. best to get a v8 equipped car beside yours and do meticulous measuring. start with two complete cars if possible.
