I had an old key in my desk, and I tried that, and it didn't work, but when I went back to the original key this time it started.

But I need to know more about this "Key". My 1997 key is nothing remarkable and not electronic like the 2004 E500. So I am surprised it worked.

(also I replaced the fuel pump relay with the same old original unit that I had earlier pulled and tested.)
