I would also add the Castrol GTX 15W40 to the list. I have run this in several of my MB diesels with good results. The Shell Rotella 15W40 is also excellent and recommended by lots of truckers. The real key is to change your oil and filter religously every 3000 miles. Doing that I got over 300K from all of my diesels and the engines were all still in great shape.
