I would suspect it is in the driveline somewhere. If you put the car in Park and have someone push and pull the car against the pawl in the transmission, you may be able to hear where the noise is coming from. You should be able to get an idea of the condition of the discs just by looking to see if they are cracked. You should get an idea of your center support bearing just by getting under and pulling on it- if it moves more than a half an inch its time to replace it. As for mechanics in Rockford- I don't know , but look in one of the other forums listed further down for advice.

And , it's better to list what car you have- you may get more help.
