I have owned an 88TE for 18 months now. My wife has put 25,000 miles on the car and it is a dream to drive. However, I concur with the previous posts. I paid about 3k for the car (with 209,000 miles) and have spent probably another 5k to get it as close to pristine as possible (timing chain, head gasket, new accumulators, etc.). I dont regret a penny of it. It is no sports wagen, however. Fairly slow off the line but when it gets up and running the highway acceleration is impressive. We get about 20 mpg on the highway and run premium.
