ON that & any 1984-86 190E 2.3 you should remove the ENTIRE front cover to replace all of the worn parts for the timing chain. THOSE engines have a single row chain, & only the 1987 & later have an oil spray nozzle to lubricate the chain & gears!

Requires the removal of oil pan & everything on the front of the engine! Takes me about 10 hrs on that job & I've done lots of them!
