This is where my liberal social conscience makes me think like a die-hard conservative. I'm okay with stealing food and water, just because of the conditions down there, and the fact that none of these stores are likely to be open... but stealing like televisions and stereos and GUNS of all things - I read an article in the LA Times that some police officers in rescue operations were being SHOT by looters - reading about that stuff just makes me want to scream.
I mean, an act of God completely destroys a city of a half-million people, people are homeless, out of food and water, and even DYING, the authorities are busy trying to save the people that are left - these are supposed to be times when people are supposed to be selfless, pitch in and band together for the common good - and all some people can think about is stealing a television???
