I have a 1996 E300D that recently began to intermittantly "stall" only with a warm engine and only when stopped with the transmission in drive, for example, at a traffic light. The motor runs perfectly, no check engine light, no hesitation, no rough idle. It just stops, and all the dash lights appear as if in the pre-start mode. All other systems continue to run fine during the "stall", such as the stereo or blower fan or headlights. The engine will re-start and run perfectly normal afterwards. The "stall" does not occur if I shift into neutral or park while stopped. Any suggestions out there? Thanks!
