Charge the battery and jump to another car. Heat GP and crank engine. Chances are that it will start.

Draining the fuel system is just asking for trouble. Diesel fuel does not deteriorate like gasoline and unless there is fungus growing in the tank that plugged the tank strainer, the fuel will flow. If you have fungus, you have to treat the fuel system with Biobor to kill the fungus. Fungus does not get in the fuel system unless contaminated fuel was put in it.

If engine starts and runs well, there is nothing else you have to do to it.
