I recently found a local driveline service shop (Richmond Va) which as a sideline has been replacing the U joints in MB and BMW drive shafts for several years. I found a joint at NAPA for $36. The shop charged me $40 to replace the joint. They pressed out the old joint, installed and centered the new one and then welded washers over each bearing cap.
