also learn how to do an oil level checks with the car in park from the drivers seat.
I always fill the sump a quart or so low after an oil change and then use the dash display oil level function tell me exactly how much oil to add for the correct level. But that technique may not be good for you.
Get a copper drain plug gasket if your going to drain from the sump. I think the drain plug bolt tightens to 18 ft lbs.

Also open the hood and check the HVAC filter housing above the battery, it is easy to replace.

Also up to 12k miles I think you get a free aligment, so check you tire tread wear to make sure everything is even.

Also make sure your coolant is high up there in the overflow tank, your coolant is probably blue.
