This may or may not be related to your problem but I experienced the SRS light on but not intermittant about two years ago in a 99 ML 320. The repair invoice indicates that fault B1153 (front passenger seat occupied recognition) was found. The cables were checked and it was determined that the sensor in the seat cushion needed replacing.
