perhaps I'm looking for the wrong part? The part I removed looks like a small chrome box. The back cover plied off. Three wires to it, red, blue, green. Has a fuse inside, a diode and a large set of points. Has a thumb screw on the top to adjust point contact. Is attached to the firewall with 2 screws. It is hardwired into the OEM harness, no plug or connector.

When I look for an overvoltage relay for the car on the web, I get a picture of a small cube shaped relay that plugs into a connector.

What am I looking at / what am I suppose to be looking for?
