If you can go cable do it, yea a little pricey. Although first year they almost give it to you. The speed diff vs DSL is mind numbing.
I have customers with DSL, it's a pain downloading big files, and connecting to their site remotely is noticably slower than those with Cable.
Normal DSL MIGHT get you 756kb down, 380kb ish up. Probably 256 just up, one customer has Biz class 1meg down 512 up, still pokey.
I'm guaranteed 3 or 4 (I think they just changed it to 4) MEG bidirectional, and I've seen downloads that appear to exceed the 10MEG max. I normally see 6 to 7 MEG, so I get 4x minimum and actually run 8x.
It has been all but perfect, I've only had 2 brief outages in a year, one I had to unplug the modem, the other was a blip.
Although the iDSL I had was also very solid.
