Update

O...here is an update on the stalling issue. BTW, I am simply amazed to learn how many 300TE and other W124 of late 1980s, early 1990s vintage exhibit the same problem. Every Benz forum that I visit, there are people like us with W124 cars that have stalling problems. It is beyond belief that no one has come up with a permanent solution yet.

As for my duaghter's 300TE. Enrique, from Mr. MB Motors worked on it. His diagnose is the wiring harness. But rather than going through the expense of buying a whole wiring harness, he took the time to go wire by wire to diagnose the problem.

The way he explained it to me, as the car slows down to a stop, the wires are sending a spurious signal (I amnot exactly sure how) that causes the computer to cut off the fuel. When the car stops, the computer resets itself and the car runs again (because now fuel is flowing). So the problem is somewhere in the ignition-fuel loop.

Anyhow, Enrique fixed the car and it ran fine for a couple of months. Then, last month it began to stall again.

So far I have not taken it back to him. I had thought about sellign the car, but with a stalling problem I cannot sell or I cannot ask for much.

Other than the stalling problem, the car is in immaculate condiitons. It runs smooth, the tranny is strong, the body is solid, the paint is good, it has a very nice Alpine HU with built in iPod connector, the car does not leak a single drop of oil or tranny fluid...etc...etc...etc...

So even if I sold it, I would never get what the car is worth.

PLUS I really, really, really like the car.

So, I will take it to Enrique and see if he can find more wires that ar fried. May even try to buy a new wiring harness (if I get a good price) or a used one.

I will hang on to the car as a daily driver (I don't care if the car stalls while I am driving, I just don't want it to stall while my daughter is driving in So. California traffic). If we can get the stalling issue resolved (and I am not in any hurry) I will let my son have the car. He likes it and he has a few more years before he gets his license so the situation is just perfect.

In the meantime we have bought my daughter a certified 2002 C320 wagon. The car is awesome, it runs fast and it is so smooth...I could like it better than my current E320!

In the meantime, if ANYONE at all has come up with a solution to this annoying problem...please post it here....
