the diff
between diesel and gasser is not that much theoretically. but that said a mb has an overhead cam, which i dont know if the tr does. this complicates things quite a lot. and mb diesels have a lot of bolts to undo and a lot of parts and design features that other engines do without. tearing one down and reassembling it correctly is not for the faint of heart. also if the engine is tired you may not find success with a quickie rebuild, and the analysis of what is needed takes careful measuring with the proper tools.
