The trick is to build the car well enough and to a high enough standard that it looks like MB did it at the factory. Anyone can hack a 350 Chevy into a W123 and have a car that will go down the road pretty quick.

But what about a 5L M119 V8 into a W123 with some sort of imported 5spd? Do the install clean enough and it will look factory.

My favorite car was the 560SEC with a V12 stuck in it.

The problem with MB's is modding them is extremly costly. If you want cheap speed a Mustang or something similer is probably the way to go.
