Not the Indy is it?

Greetings Jeepboy,

I have to ask first of all why you call yourself Jeepboy when you have a Benz? I've timed the ole beast a few times and I have to agree with you on the 0-50 time. It gets there a lot quicker then the 50-60 difference, but of course I am running without a turbo (natural air), so I'd be howling if I were you. Reasonable acceleration (not floorboarded or manually shifted) I've gotten from 0-50 in 13 seconds, but the last 10 miles takes another 8 secs. unless I just floor it from the get go on the entire run, then it's more like 17 seconds total to 60MPH. This is on a 1978 300D engine. Naturally, if you bypass the second gear start and manually shift everything yourself you can save a second or two off your time if you're not driving into the wind. I have often wondered it there wasn't a way to get fuel into the cylinder quicker to aid faster start offs, but without suppling anymore additional air to the cylinder, I'd just be spitting diesel out the tailpipe trying to get there wouldn't I?

Charles
