How to get my car to accept a new key bought on ebay? I bought a used remote and was planning on replacing the insert for $20 at the dealer.

Alldatadiy suggests that the car computer can be programmed to recognize the key. In fact up to 8 keys can be programmed and if a key is lost, its code can be deleted.

The dealer says it cannot be done and that I must buy a new key from the parts department. I am convinced they are acting in bad faith. Anything I am missing?
