Need help!!! Bypassed fader now have strange problems....
Hi,
I recently did away with the becker fader in My 1985 300SD. Now I have the audio I want and the stereo works great..... But, Now my number 1 fuse( controls: parking/tail light right, warning buzzer, illumination; license plate, instrument, heater and ventilation controls, switches, electronic radio.) keeps blowing. I have checked and rechecked dozens of times to no avail. I am an electrician and am familiar with working on cars but I need help on this one. Please be descriptive Thanks |

I would test the wires at the fader for one that has +12v when the lights get turned on. you may have to disconnect all the rewiring you did on it to be sure the fuse wont blow. once you find that wire, tape it off and leave it unconnected, and reconnect your wiring. most likely if the illumination wire was connected to anything but the illuminated bulb, then that could be the cause of the short that is blowing your fuse.

just cut off the fader connector brfore pulling the cable forward a bit of poking around to identify the front speaker wires, extend the rear wires up to the radio - no need to rewire the speakers
