Radio wiring for W115

It's come time to actually get around to connecting the aftermarket stereo components that I acquired for my '76 240D that had a lot of holes & wires when I got it. I need some help identifying the wires and figuring out the general setup.

And yes, this car has been hacked up a lot by a previous owner in many ways, so returning it to "stock" isn't going to happen...but I'd like to make it look & sound decent.

1) Attached is a picture of the wiring mess left by a former owner. The stock 3.5" top firing dashboard speakers are still in place. From what I can figure out, the thin grey wires and thin green wires shown at the bottom left of the "hole" go to the left & right speakers. The pinkish-red wire in the photo was added by the P.O. as a permanent 12v directly from the battery to keep the battery memory alive (doesn't appear to be fused, either).

The rest of the wires are a mystery. At the upper center of the picture is a brown wire with light blue crimping and what looks like a red wire with blue crimping but it's actually black with green & yellow stripes, coming out of a bundle. What are these for? Note, my cigarette lighter has also been disconnected - there is what appears to be a ground wire (black) that connects to the cigarette lighter and terminates in the black wire with brass plug that is in the far bottom right of the picture.

Finally, there is a black wire with copper strands showing that I assume is a ground.... ?......or maybe the antenna?

I'm trying to first figure out how to get power to the deck safely, where the wires go.

2) A previous owner cut holes in the back parcel shelf but I don't believe there was anything back there originally. I have filled the holes with 5.25" 3-way speakers. In the trunk is a subwoofer box I constructed that has a powered speaker in it. My plan is to have the deck power the front dash & rear speakers, add a crossover for the subwoofer and run 12v to the trunk to power the speaker's built-in amp. But I've never done this before so I'm looking for tips:

-How much power would the factory 3.5" dash speakers accept without damage? My idea is to have these operating but not loud.

-How/where would I wire the crossover?

-How do I safely run power to the trunk for the subwoofer amp and is there a way to have it turn on/off automatically?

Thanks in advance for any help & advice!
