Would this setup sound good in a 300CD?
![]() Alpine CDM-9823, local junkyard hookup for $50 ![]() The stereo was an impulse buy because it was in a 86 SEL that hadn't been touched yet, and my 300CD has a stupid "talking" stereo that's driving me nuts. That and whoever wired it into the car either didn't connect the antenna, or the antenna is broken, and apparently wired the radio to an always hot wire, so it won't turn off when I shut the car off. The front speakers are torn and make the worst possible sounds and the rears are likely in the same shape. No plans for any thump in the trunk yet...but I happen to have 2 10's in a bandpass box collecting dust. ![]()

I currently have Infinity Kappa 4" and 5.25" speakers running off of a 50Wx4 Panasonic CQ-C8303U headunit. The sound is decent - not a whole lot of bass is produced from the low wattage, and the 5.25" speakers are pretty limited to what frequencies they can reproduce. I would like to get 6x9's for the rear deck plus a 4 channel amp for all 4 interior speakers, and then maybe 1 12" in the trunk

I figured I'm making a huge leap over the POS stereo in the car now and I'll look into bigger rear speakers later, but I'm not fond of cutting into the car if not necessary...yet.

Yeah it was a vast improvement from stock. Since I straight piped my car I don't really listen to the radio much anymore, I enjoy the pure, unadulterated sounds of the 617 and garrett turbo whining away!

Really? Got any pics/details on your exhaust system? I've got e-cutouts on my SS because you can't straight pipe a small block chevy, and drive it like I do.
