The 6 disc player on my 98 ML320 failed when the disc cartridge virtually melted and warped. as installed inside the right rear fender. it warped the cartridge so severely that 3 discs were broken in the process. Yes it gets kind of hot in the mall parking lots here in Phoenix!
I was able to eject the cartridge manually, with a butter knife, but am left with ERR3 displayed on the Bose front end. I took all the external covers off to make sure there were no fragments left in the player
I have tried unplugging the CD player at the white connector, inserting a factory new cartridge, with and without discs, to no avail. I cannot clear the ERR3 message. Do I need to manually move the transport mechanism or what next? Does the Bose unit need to be deenergised? I guess I will try that next.
If I need to send in the CD player for repairs, or replace it,is it basically an ALPINE unit?
I searched the archives for ERR3 and nothing came up.
anyone BTDT?
Thanks
