Question radio problem

just repalced dash speakers with jbl's sounded great for a bout 2 weeks. now the left side is crackly and not much volume. the guy who put speakers in (not the person who sold them to me) said everything seemed fine. could the becker radio be the culprit. anyone else have this problem?

What is your vehicle? www.beckerautosound.com for repairs. Some systems have amplifiers seperate from radio head and control head. Some have seperate amplifier for woofers. Some have "radio" in the trunk. Lots of possibilities. Try a post in the audio forum.

I have similar problem combined with a poping noise when changing stations. It has been diagnosed as DC voltage leaking out inside the the radio. If not repaired it can damage the speakers. My radio is an Alpine mod. 2194 (Becker look alike). It can be repaired. If you decide to replace it becareful about buying used electronics over the internet. I can PM you about a broken Alpine sold on e-bay listed as being in good working condition.

If you've got the stock Becker it probably does have a separate amp. They located it behind the glovebox, mounted under the dash. It's just a silver metal box.

Since you just had speakers installed you might want to diagnose the problem first...Remove the suspect channels speaker from the dash and substitute another known good speaker in there...Also check to make sure that somehow the speaker wire has not shorted out against anything metal...
