2000 E320 - doesn't find CD changer

All of a sudden the 6CD changer is not found by the CD button on the audio controls. This happened once before and all I had to do was to take out the CD holder and put back in and it worked. Not this time. Anybody with ideas of what to check?

The controller...either RADIO or "command" needs the D2B fiber optic ring configured properly.

My 2001 ML 320 is doing the same thing, but I unplug the fiber optic cable with the radio off, plug it back in and turn all back on and all is well for several days.

Can a DIY configure the fiber optic ring? If so, How do I do it? If not, any idea on cost?

Thanks for the help.

should be pretty straight forward if you've not had the cell phone as part of
the fiber ring. if that's the case, just be sure that the beginning of the loop
begins with the head unit, goes to the changer, then back to the head unit
to form the loop.

if it still reports "NO CD CHANGER", try pulling the fuse from the head unit for
a few mins. if not, try a few hrs. if not, try the weekend.
