Which amp?
Hi guys,
I'm planning on changing (bypassing) my stock Bose and needed your recommendations for an after market amp for the speakers and a separate amp for subwoofers for my 97 S600. An suggestion/feedback is appreciated. Thanks. |

well it all depends on how much money you want to spend. It also depends on whether or not you will be keeping the stock head unit. If you keep the stock head unit you might lose even more sound quality because you have no pre-outs so you will have to use speaker wire inputs to the amps. Bose is always a little tricky because they design speaker locations for the specific car. They also make the amplifier specific for the speakers. Everyone thinks OH Bose but infact when coupled with after market amps they suck. You can't go wrong with Alpine or Kenwood Excelon. For speakers stick with speakers that have a low Hz rating and high HZ rating. The front doors have 4 inch speakers in them so I would use the Alpine SPS-10C2. They are very good speakers. The back doors have 3 1/2" speakers and I would use JBL GTO327 3-1/2" Amps Stick with the brands above. If you keep those stock speakers in, you will lose sound quality by switching amps.

a great sub amp is a Sony XM-D9001GTR.. nice power for a small price. about $140.00
also id suggest replacing the head unit and going with a 4 channel amp to power the speakers .. crisp sound with nice sub will be awesome |

if you choose to go with the sony amp cheap on ebay first. this is going to save you so much money. that amp is probably about 90 dollars on ebay. Check for everything off ebay. When I Bought my system I saved around 800 dollars. mind you I put alot of money but you will save if you use ebay.
