I have a 84 300sd and I am trying to get the power antenna to work. I purchased a tested working hirschman 6000 antenna installed it but it will not go up or down. I replaced the antenna switch on the dash with a new one. I tested the wires at the antenna plug and they show proper voltage. The car does not have a radio, the PO removed it. I believe he had an aftermarket radio in there. Is there any wiring that needs to be checked near where the radio was to make the antenna work?

yes there should be a blue wire back there by the radio. it must be hooked up to a radio. i believe you can test it with 12volt but not sure. its like a relay you need a switch wire and the wire behind the stereo is the switch wire.

Check the antenna. Put 12V+ to red wire and groyund black. Take blue or sometimes green wire and tap 12V+ antenna should raise - removal from power lowers. Red has to be a constant source of 12V and sometimes this wires is fused.
