W210 Aftermarket radio help

Hello,

I installed an aftermarket radio (Pioneer) in my 1999 e300. The instructions where pretty straight foward. After hooking it up and installing it into the dash the radio came on, but no sound. The previous aftermarket radio (Awaii) had a gray box attached between the radio and the car's wiring. It had,"peripheral interface components" on the top with four holes for some kind of adjustments. I beilieve that these cars had fiber optics used in some capacity but I don't know if this is the problem or not. Could there be a compatibility issue with an aftermarket radio that has to be addressed with a interface device? Any help would be appreiciated.

Aftermarket Stereo

I called Crutchfield and that is correct I have to connect the blue wire to the pink wire to activate the Bose Amp. Thanks.
