Radio settings saver?

I need to replace my battery and I'd like to preserve the radio antitheft codes. Some time ago I saw an ad for a little gizmo that used a 9 v battery connected through the cigarette lighter to preserve the radio codes (and station presets). Now of course I can't find it. Anyone out there know what I am talking about and know ehere to get one? TIA

Might work on some cars but definitely not on MB. MBs lighter is not operational unless the key is on. With the key on the electrical output will take a 9v battery to nothing before you can get out of the car.

Your PRESET radio stations shouldn't reset if the battery is unplugged for a short time.

I pulled the Becker from my 87 300E December of last year, intending to upgrade everything. Well, one delay led to another, cash got diverted, etc. The point is, 6 months later I reinstalled the Becker head unit, and it still had the pre-sets!!! Do they store in EPROMs, non volatile RAM, or? I know it isn't like my 54 chevy where you mechanically locked a pre-set by pulling the station button out and pushing back in, like setting the tabs on a manual typewriter. :p
