Does anyone know if you can just replaced the stock speakers in a 1998 clk320 or do you need to replace the whole stock system? If you've done a replacement what size and brand of speakers did you use? And does anyone have pics before and after.

Generally if you have the bose system you should replace the whole thing, the bose is specifically tuned to the speakers, which run at weird ohm ratings compared to normal speakers.

If it were me, I'd look into some nice MB Quart speakers or something of similar quality, a good headunit and replacement cd changer to go with it, all mounted in factory area's, so it can be returned back to factory system if sold.

I hate factory car stereo's in most cars, I find aftermarket allows you to gett he sound you really want.
