Becker BE980 Silverstone installation question

One PIE cable is grey with an L bend and a straight connect. I guess the L bend plugs into the top hole that says front on the changer and I unplug the white L bend from the tuner (goes to the front)and connect that to staight connect. The other supplied PIE cable is a black L bend (marked CD) that I guess plugs into the tuner port on the CD chager.

My big question is...on the tuner there are two PIE ports..the one towards the fender (right) is whrer the white L bend is plugged into and the other next to it on the left is open with nothing pugged into it....which port on the tuner do I plug the other end of the (marked CD cable)? The one where the origional white one was once plugged or the other one that was vacant?

I figured out the black "y" power cables supply wire connection from a call to Becker service department since Ed was not there (could detect major attitude). He refered me to Ed Ebel (whom I bought it from who said instructions would be included-NOT) but all I have gotten at ext 207 is voice mail. The Becker board on their web site had nothing about this.

Thanks for the help!!!

By the way I fabricated a bracket from a 16 gauge 8" X 18" steel plate from Loews hardware aisle for $6.99. Bent it 90 degress on a vise, drilled holes and it fits perfect (no cutting or welding).

Sorry for the spelling, I thought I proofread!

Do I need to disconnect the negative battery cable when hooking up the CD changer wires? I would rather not.

Thanks

i believe you hook up the cable from the changer to the original din port on the tuner. member msaylor used to have a good writeup on this but his personal website is gone or moved. you should be ok with the power connections.

i still have a printout of the picture at msaylor's old site but it doesn't show two ports on the tuner. they didn't even send that to you? i think that they assume that everyone that calls them is a dealer which is part of the problem. it probably won't hurt if you connect it to the wrong port.

James you plug it in where the other one was plugged in (the one that had nothing plugged in stays empty). Don't worry about your power. If you get one of the plugs backwards on the translator there is a fuse inside the translator box, on the board that protects it from shorting out.
