A Neat tip for w124 owners and possibly others.

Take out the front speaker grils on your black dash which should be a grey color.

Paint them and the screw covering strips semi gloss black. looks great on the black dash. or color match them to the interior color of your car for some variation.

I just had mine off and I decided to spray them black.

I removed the metal grill covering off its plastic frame by bending up its little tabs. painted it, and put ti back on the plastic frame.

What a difference to have them black versus grey.

Hmmmm...Yours must've been faded-mine are Black to begin with. Had to replace one, and the replacement was exactly the same shade

no mine were a dark grey, like the original side panels on the car.

I painted them demi gloss black, they look excellent.

I will get some as soon as my dad returns my camera. he took it on his austrailia trip for two weeks. I gett he camera back today!! I'll try to get some pics together of whatever I have done latelyt o the car. hehe

Like the tweeters I added to the bottom of the factory grills. The front dash speakers were factory capped with 3.3 microfaret caps. the tweeters I added are also capped the same, but are some small tweeters versus the almost 5" cone speaker putting out the highs. Made the highs much better and more crisp. I'm happy with my project hehe.

My next plan is to change the factory microfaret caps on the door subs to make them more of a mid bass, and then possibly cap the rears as well

Of course A new amp to drive everything will come soon too.

My factory speakers with the old alpine aftermarket system that came with the car when I bought it, and with my added sub and tweeters, sounds pretty good. I have no problems with leaving factory speakers until they blow. The sub really adds the much needed bass tot he car, and makes all the difference. I'll snap some pics of that.

I unfortunately broke the amp that is on the rear speakers. DOH, but I have an idea of what is wrong,a little soldering and replaced rca input, and I should be able to resurrect it. if not, cest la vie.

I'll get pics up soon.
